Carpod Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2002 GMC Envoy

Today on this 2002 GMC Envoy we're going to be testing the 23x47 Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier for 2 inch hitches, part number M2205. Now what sets this apart from the other cargo carriers we have is that it has these nice, tall walls to hold in all cargo necessary that you don't want to keep inside to make more room for your passengers. Now, before we start anything else I would like to go ahead and give you some measurements to give you a better idea of how far this sticks out from the vehicle when it's attached. I'm going to go ahead and take these measurements from the bumper. It sticks out to about this end here to about 36 inches. Next, we're going to go ahead and give you the ground clearance from this point here, which that's at about 22 inches and finally we'll give you the closest distance to the bumper, which should be right about here, and that's about 6 1/2 inches. This has a nice grated bottom here, so it's very easy to clean and to fold this down and get it compacted is very easy. It has 4 pins in each corner. more

Let's go ahead and start off and give you a couple measurements to give an idea of how far the cargo carrier actually sticks out from the vehicle. I'm going to go ahead and measure from the bumper, it looks like it's going to be about 30 inches. Next we'll do the ground clearance, it's about 16 inches. Finally, we'll do the closest point to the bumper, which will be right here, that's going to be about 7 inches. Now with the Envoy, the exhaust comes out on the passenger side, but it does face down, so you won't really have to worry about any heat sensitive materials, and damaging them at all. With it in this position, with nothing loaded into it, we have no problem getting access to our cargo area, as you can see. more
